The Shenandoah Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists was formed in 2007. We are an organization composed of volunteers that act as educators, citizen scientists and stewards of our natural resources. Our goal is to help conserve and mange Virginia's natural resources and public lands in cooperation with our partner and sponsoring organizations. Our chapter is located in the northern Shenandoah Valley covering the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Warren, Shenandoah and Page. The chapter trains, mentors and supports our members to become certified Master Naturalists. Our organization is open to all people who share a love of nature and a desire to help maintain and preserve it.

Testimonials
"I often wondered who put the class together - so diverse, highly motivated and agreeable, and a little bit goofy. All very smart and kind to this senior citizen who moves a little slower physically...I personally made new friends, reconnected with old friends, and became enlightened regarding my natural world and as an intelligent [environmental] interpreter. I am now happily part of a dedicated community to preserve the precious earth..." |
"Having any title can be intimidating, especially one as diverse as 'Master Naturalist.' The training courses reinforced that no one is expected to know everything, but everyone knows something, and we all benefit by sharing our knowledge! It was a wonderfully energizing experience to get to meet people from my local community that are as excited and interested by the natural world as I am." |
